Sakura – Tsubasa Chronicles
Created: spring 2008
Worn to: AnimeMatsuri 2008
Status: retired
costume notes: This beautious gown was made to debut at Anime Matsuri 2008. I was a special guest there that year.
This dress was a very big project! It is the first time I got to make panniers as an under structure for a costume, which is a really interesting silhouette. In fact, I have no idea what the exact shape of the dress was supposed to be as CLAMP only really released this one color image (and a few scribbled black and white images in the manga) which doesn’t show just how the skirt sits. So I decided I didn’t just want a typical, easy to do hoop petticoat, i was going to go for something more complicated!
The gown was is very elegant, made in white bridal satins, with the corset and over-skirt layers in an eggshell colored shantung silk. VERY GORGEOUS! The bodice was structured like a corset, with steal boning, and laces up the back. All the swirls on the dress are embroidered appliques, which took many many hours to do! *,*
