Rogue – X-Men: Age of Apocalypse
Created: summer 2008
Worn to: Dragon*con 2008
Status: new photoshoot pending!
costume notes: I grew up watching X:Men, I loved the animated series, and Rogue was always my fave female character in the cartoon. I have wanted to cosplay her for a long time. The most logical choice would have been the most recognizable costume, but cannot bare to think of myself in the long, horrible curly early 90’s hair of the old cartoon. I loved Age of Apocalypse series, and I loved it’s artwork. I think it had a big influence on my brain, and was inspiring to me as part of the first wave of American comic artist to show some influence from Japanese manga, while retaining everything I respect and love about American comic artwork - use of shadows, and inky details, the anatomical extremes mixed with a new bold line work. It was very exciting!
Love conqueres all … and I finally got around to making this costume! It is an interesting mix of spandex, and stretch vinyl. I’m so happy I went with the yellow vinyl since it gave the costume a slightly more edgy look. Costumes made entirely of satin can run the risk of looking really drab. I was happy to find that I did not look to bad with the white bangs.
Go me!
